Principal Message

Welcome  to M.B. Govt. Post Graduate College, Haldwani. This College was established in the year 1960 as a private degree college sponsored by Moti Ram Babu Ram Educational Trust to cater to the needs of higher education of the youths of Haldwani and surrounding areas.

It was affiliated to Agra University till 1973 and with the establishment of the Kumaun University Nainital in 1974, the college got affiliated to it. In the larger interest of the students and other stakeholders Government of Uttar Pradesh took over the management of the college from Moti Ram Babu Ram Educational Trust in 1982 and it became a Government College managed and funded by the state government. It is recognized by University Grants Commission under section 2 [F] and 12[b] of the UGC act 1956. Besides, receiving funds from the state government, college also receives funds from UGC and other central government funding agencies for general development and research projects. Uttarakhand State Government took an important decision in the 2004 to develop this college as an ideal college of Nainital district with the aim of improving the quality of higher education.

The college has highly qualified faculty in all the departments and it aims to provide qualitative education keeping in view the demands and aspirations of the students and other stakeholders. Large number of students seeking admission in this college for various program of study is a challenging task for the authorities of the college. Since its beginning, there has been continuous increase in the number of students seeking admission in this college.

The college offers UG and PG courses in faculty of arts, science and commerce. At present 21 programs at UG, level and 19 programs at PG level are being offered by the college. Currently more than 300 students are registered for degree of Ph.D in various subjects. Keeping in view National Educational Policy 2020,  vocational and skill oriented programs are also being offered in all the courses as well as in the courses running in self- financing mode such as Biotechnology at UG and PG level, Yoga at PG level and diploma in interior decoration . It is the collective responsibility of all the faculties and students to develop a conducive environment to foster the growth of intellectually sound, innovative youth and promote the values of democracy, national integration, communal harmony and social equality.This can be done by creating and developing the scientific temper in  students.
A number of extracurricular and extension activities- NCC, NSS, Rovers/ Rangers of the college provide the right platform for in calculating these values among the students. So let us come forward to think and act rationally and develop a scientific temper by adopting a scientific approach so as lead ahead to the path of knowledge. This can be achieved by creating and developing scientific and rational temperament among the students.
