Department of B.Ed. Govt

B.Ed. department was established in July 1973 and was affiliated by Kumaun University Nainital in the same year. It was recognized by NCTE on 5^th Dec. 1998 (from the academic  year  1998-99).  The department is running two year degree course since 2015 and  total intake is of 55 (50+5 EWS) students. Students are selected on total merit of marks obtained in the B.Ed. Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by Kumaon University Nainital.  

To prepare multifaceted teachers for providing progressive and right direction to the society.

• To accelerate civic ,social and moral values  among students.
• To relate education with practical life.
• To provide qualitative education by applying research, innovation and best practices in the field of teacher- education. 
• To inculcate professional ethics among students. 

 B.Ed. training comprises of minimum 200 working days in each academic  year including theory and practicum, which include discussion-groups, workshops, presentation, seminars, assignments, reports, specified activities etc. to enhance professional skills and understanding of student(s). Department prepares academic  calendar  and organizes teaching-learning  activities  accordingly. The teaching learning process is organized to develop civic sense,  spirit of  working together   and sharing responsibility. The minimum attendance of the student teacher shall have to be 80% for all course work and practicum and 90% for School Internship.

National day celebrations like Teachers day, Education day, Environmental day and Women’s day etc. are celebrated with great enthusiasm. Different co-curricular activities like literary activities and  cultural programs, Cleanliness drive and awareness campaign regularly organized by related committees established at  the departmental level like Discipline Committee, Sports Committee, Cultural Committee, Literary  Committee  ,Cleanliness Committee, ICT Committee, Alumni   Committee ,Grievance Redressal Committee etc. From 2018 department is working with NGO “GO GREEN GO CLEAN” in the field of sanitation. 

Department is upgraded as  College of Teacher Education(CTE)under Centrally Sponsered Scheme of Teacher Education in 2013 .CTE aims for quality improvement of pre-service and in-service Teachers through training programmes .Three districts of Kumaon region namely Almora,Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar are in work area of CTE Haldwani  for In-service training programme.The department has accomplished various refresher courses in Hindi,English,Science,Maths and Social Science for L.T. teachers of secondary and Higher Secondary Schools and  has  successfully trained numerous teachers. It has organized  different workshops and webinars  for student teachers under Pre-service programmes.

At present  total  39 research scholars are pursuing research work under the guidance of  faculty members out of which 13 scholars are NET, 4 scholars are USET and 6 scholars are NET JRF qualified.
