Department of English organised a farewell to the outgoing batch of MA English 2023 on 23 of August 2023. The send off saw many moments of artistic renditions in the form of poetry recital, dances to the contemporary numbers and guitar performances studded with A grade singing. The students of MA 2 semester tastefully did the decorations for the party with the theme ‘Friends’. There was Mr and Miss Farewell which was given on the basis of student’s presentation and presence of mind. Harshita Upadhyay won the title for Miss Farewell and Vikas Joshi won Mr Farewell. Sunidhi Bisht, Sarthak, Kamlesh, Priyanka actively participated in the games during the party. Professor Nilofar Akhtar, Dr Kavita Pant, Dr Abha Tripathi Dr Kiran , Dr CS Negi blessed the students and gave them best wishes for their future.
Department of English organised an invited talk today on Modern Literary Theory and Criticism through virtual mode. Eminent scholar of English Professor SZH Abidi delivered the talk. The students were present in large number as the topic is of immense value to them as NET aspirants. Tradition and Individual Talent written by TS Eliot is a quintessential work of New Criticism. It deviates from the romantic theory of imagination given by William Wordsworth. The talk lasted for more than an hour. Principal Professor NS Bankoti chaired the session. Dr Nilofar introduced the topic and the speaker. Others present were Dr Kavita Pant, Kavita Bisht, Miss Kiran and Diksha.
