Mathematics is an area of knowledge that includes such topics as numbers (arithmetic and number theory), formulas and related structures (algebra), shapes and the spaces in which they are contained (geometry), and quantities and their changes (calculus and analysis). One whose occupation involves the pursuit or study of mathematical truths or objects is known as a mathematician.

The department of Mathematics offers B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. programmes in Mathematics. Since its inception, the department is offering various courses in Mathematics at different levels and thus doing the continuous efforts of making the students aware about recent as well as ancient knowledge of Mathematics.. The increasing demand for specialized persons in different research and industrial establishments has led us to keep syllabi of different courses up to their standard. Keeping in mind the latest developments, the contents of the courses are updated and revised from time to time.
